US HEAT awards one $2500 scholarship annually to an emergency response department, agency or organization in the United States of America. The scholarship allows two members of the receiving department’s HazMat team to attend the IAFC Hazardous Materials Response Teams Conference. The application period is January 1st to February 28th of each year. The scholarship will be awarded, and the recipients notified, by March 31st of each year.
Qualified applicants must be an active career or volunteer member of an emergency services department, agency or organization in the United States of America, be a U.S. citizen currently residing in the United States of America and be a certified Hazardous Materials Technician.
The Scholarship Committee reviews qualified applications in March of each year and selects award recipients by letter ballot. Awardees are selected on the following five criteria:

Through US HEAT, the TX HEAT chapter also provides two scholarships to Texas HazMat Responders each year to allow them to attend the Hazardous Materials Instructors and Commanders (HMIC) Conference. Each scholarship covers the full cost of conference registration and hotel lodging for 3 nights for one Texas HazMat Responder.
